Good day,

we are preparing our data for replication. one of the tasks is to upgrade the spatial reference from low precision to high precision. we managed to upgrade all of our feature datasets except for three of them where the upgrade spatial index wizard keeps failing with a general error 000582: error occurred during execution. failed to execute (upgradeSpatialReference). even logfiles repeat the same general error and do not provide any insight of where to look or what might be causing all this

all of our feature datasets are versioned and for business limitations, reconciling/posting to default all of the versions is not an option.

can any body help in determining what is preventing only these three feature datasets from being upgraded to high precision ?

what to look for as a show stopper in these feature datasets?

is there an alternative path other than the wizard which may provide at least some meaningful errors that can help in trouble shooting ?

what could prevent the upgrade spatial reference process ?

your responses are highly appreciated

regards,

As a workaround, you can move the Feature Classes out of the Feature Dataset, upgrade the precision of Feature Classes and Feature Dataset using the 'Upgrade Spatial Reference' tool. Then move Feature Classes back inside the Feature Dataset.

Or you can simply copy your data into a File Geodatabase (this will convert them into High Precision) and back into the sde geodatabase.

But, as Craig mentioned, you should contact ESRI Technical Support so that they can troubleshoot this issue properly.

Regards,
