Error upgrading authorization key

I am facing problem with creating a ArcSDE service for some existing geodatabase.
Error message:
Error: Operation Failed (-1).
Error upgrading authorization key.
I am choosing custom option during ArcSDE post installation for MS SQL Server.
And i am doing the following operations:
1.Repository setup
2.Authorize ArcSDE
3.Create ArcSDE service

If I try without selecting the option Authorize ArcSDE then it is working fine. But then I am not able to connect it from ArcCatalog because without authorizing ArcSDE service it now allow to connect.

And also when i try the fresh post installation with Complete option then there is no problem the problem is only when i am trying to create arcsde service for some existing database.

My goal here is :
On production server we have a ArcSDE service and it's geodatabase now i took backup of that geodatabase and restored on my test server and then after i am trying the ArcSDE post installation to create ArcSDE service for the newly restored database so that i can connect it from ArcCatalog.

Any help will be appreciated.

Hello all,
i found where i was doing wrong, i am posting here if it help anyone.
During restore i was changing the database name as well the database logical file name and that was creating the issue.
