Required Fields in File Geodatabase

Hi all,
I was hoping someone might be able to help me with this one...

Are File Geodatabases capable of supporting "Required" Fields?
The Help file I've read specifies that Geodatabases can support a Required field, but when I set Required Field to Yes in the Add Field tool under Data Management Tools\Fields in the Toolbox, I create a feature and it can be Null or Not and it doesn't prompt me for an attribute in that field.

Is this only available through SDE?

The help for for the Add Field (Data Management) tool states;
[INDENT]field_is_required
(Optional)
Specifies whether the field being created is a required field for the table; only supported for fields in a geodatabase.

NON_REQUIRED �??The field is not a required field. This is the default.

REQUIRED �??The field is a required field. This means new records must contain a value for the field. Required fields are permanent and can not be deleted.

[/INDENT]I'm currently runnig on an ArcView license. Any thoughts?

The web help is incorrect where it states:

REQUIRED �??The field is a required field. This means new records must contain a value for the field. Required fields are permanent and can not be deleted.

'This means new records must contain a value for the field' should be removed. Setting a field to 'Required' will only make it permanent, and disable the option to delete it.

Do you know if there is any way to make a field required at all?
