Changing Vertex and Cusor Size in ArcInfo Editing

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone knows whether it's possible to change the size and/or color of vertices, nodes and end points in an edit session in ArcMap? Also, for the type of editing I've been doing I find the standard editor tool in an edit session very small to work with, is there any way of making this larger or again, change the color?

Anything you can tell me would help.

It is possible - in the Editor toolbar click the Options Button, there you can change the size and color of the vertices. Please see attached pic.

Hi Anna,

Thanks for writing back on this, however the screen you've shown me I don't have in the same options window - are you using ArcInfo 10? We currently use Arc 9.3.1. I have some code written for a macro that allows me to change the size and color of the nodes, but not the selectable area, which is really what I'm after.

What you've shown me would be perfect, but do you know if this customization is available somewhere in 9.3?

Hi Jeff,

yes, you´re right, I am using ArcGIS 10. This kind of customization is newly integrated in 10.
I looked into ArcGIS 9.3.1, but I couldn´t find that option, whether hidden (customize mode) or in the AdvancedArcMapSettings. I searched for options, found this one Code - but I think this is already the code you´re using, right?

Could you please clarify what you mean with "...to change the size and color of the nodes, but not the selectable area..."?

Thanks for your responses. Wish we had 10 maybe we'll upgrade soon?!? 🙂

I do have that code and it does help with at least being able to see the nodes better and change their color. But correct me if I'm wrong, the selectable size of the vertex itself doesn't change with this code? In other words, even if I make the node huge, hovering the cursor over it, it still only activates the move tool on a small part of it? I'll attach some pics so you can see what i mean. Its hard to describe.

Hi Jeff,

you´re correct: the selectable size of the vertex doesn´t change - I just tried it in ArcGIS 10, unfortunatly it is the same here. So my suggestion for you would be to post an enhancement request via http://www.ideas.arcgis.com - maybe it will be implemented in one of the next versions.
