Unable to register licenses on ArcSDE 10

I got the EDN subscription license for ArcSDE, which reads as

arcsdeserver,101,ecpxxx, 17-apr-2013,5H7187__256_CHAR_LONG_KEY..

However, I am unable to register this license on my SDE instance. I am using Linux 64 bit, Oracle 10g and use the sdesetup -o update_key command line to register the licenses. I even tried installing a fresh ArcSDE 10 installation with Service Pack 4 on a fresh oracle instance.

When I run the command line, it exits abrupty without the status. The echo $status returns 0.

$ bin/sdesetup -o update_key -l authorization_F4C9.ecp -d ORACLE10g

$ echo $status
0

When I try to register an ECP file for the downgraded (93) version, the registration goes through fine. I also see that the ECP file for 93 doesn't have very may characters for the encrypted key string. Its just 20 characters long. Am I missing something?

Please do not place any part of your license key in Forums postings.

The important part is the "101" -- That key is designed for 10.1, not 10.0.
While valid, it won't unlock 10.0.
