Check-out replica hangs

Greetings all,

Trust the weather improves for all esri users on east coast of USA....

We are having some intermittent performance(?) issues with our gdb replication workflow. Our server is running full enterprise sde (10.0 sp5) with Postgres as the DB.

When a user checks-out from from default layer (server) to their local gdb (PC), the checking out data dialog runs through it's numerous steps before stalling at the "registering replica" stage. It simply hangs at this point.

After cancelling, we are able to confirm the replica was created successfully as the version exists in both the local and server gdb (manage replica's).

The issue has now arisen on numerous workstations and across different users, so thought I would post here seeking others experience.

Hi Craig,

Have you resolved this replica creation hanging issue?

One good practice to create replica is to use "Register with existing data" option from ArcMap. You will need to copy all the datasets before you create the replica.

We are still experiencing this issue (intermittently). No solution yet 🙂 It's not a house burning down scenario in that (as far as I can tell) the replica is created successfully.

Also, we did undertake some network performance monitoring of the server (and switch) which returned as normal.

I hope I've interpreted your suggestion correctly... the register existing data when creating the replica is not suitable for our workflow. We have many users editing the same data. Our replication workflow negates the need for users to copy data 🙂 They simply check-out, edit and check-in.
