topic Extract by Mask ARC MAP 10.1 advanced in Data Management Questions

I am having a problem maintaing the exact color of a raster DRG that I am clipping using the extract by mask with a polygon shape file of the area I want to clip. When I extract by mask I have not found a way to keep the exact colors of the DRG or raster image. When I extract it makes a lot of different colors I do not want. I need the exact colors that are in the raster image to do what I want. If somone could point me in the correct procedure to do this it would be appreciated.
Thanks
Jack

Have you tried the Clip tool? With the geometry option chosen, the output should be what you want.

With your Extract by Mask output, did you check to see if a stretch was applied to it? Or more importantly, check the symbology options were different? I would start there, the tool will not change the values unless it needs to resample and then only slightly. However, if there were no statistics before or not a stretch applied, then the look of the raster will be different.
