MicroStation V8/V7 DGN files displays incorrectly in ArcMap/Catalog 10.2.0.3348, without coordinates.

The same file in 10.1 or 9.3.1 displays correctly

On mine the coordinates are fine in 10.1. Do you get any error message?

I have never used 10.1

In 10.0, microstation files (V7) showed up in the right location.
After installing 10.2, the microstation files show up somewhere with negative coordinates.

I did monkey around and come up with a world file on my own that actually works, but something is definitely not working as it is supposed to.

I think I'm having the same problem, except I don't have CADD software on my end, just receive the DGN files and usually they import fine into ArcGIS (in 10.0 and 10.1 and before). Cmertel, could you give any insight on how you solved the problem?

Because I have both Microstation and ArcGIS, I was able to find the coordinate location (start x,y and end x,y) of a 2 point line that crosses my general spatial work area.

I found the x,y coords in ArcGIS and I found the same x,y coords in Microstation and then came up with a "world" file.

"esri_cad.wld"

-1853483.648,-1789483.648 290000.000,5654000.000
-1447483.648,-1456483.648 696000.000,5987000.000

This world file works for me (UTM Zone 10, NAD83) but I doubt it would work for most other folks.

This issue has been identified as a "bug" (by ESRI) in ArcGIS 10.2

Thanks! Luckily I do have access to a DGN file from the same area that was successfully imported/referenced in arc 10.0, so I should be able to do this as well..

I also have the same issue in 10.2. DGN files are displayed with a negative northing and the eastings do not correspond to the correct locations either. I know the projection is supposed to be state plain coordinates from the metadata but assigning that projection doesn't work. It's cumbersome to craft a transformation file from a corresponding DAT or XYZ file. I just upgraded from 9.2 to 10.2 and this doesn't impress.

If you have the capability, export your MicroStation file into AutoCAD and then bring that in. That's the workaround we're using at the moment and seems to be fine.

It seems to work, but that seems like a terrible fix. Has their been a solution yet?

Same issue here. I had a dgn referenced into arcmap that I occasionally opened to make small exhibits, now after installing 10.2.1 from 10.1 the dgn shows up in the wrong location.

We are experiencing the same issue here. We using ArcGIS 10.2 . Most of dgn's that are causing problems are ones that are imported from other users/department.

We need a fix to this ASAP! ESRI keeps saying this is caused by a corrupted world file. Is the issue still present in 10.2.1?

Hi Everyone,

ESRI issued a QFE that fixes NIM094291 on ArcGIS 10.2.1. You don't have to wait or upgrade to 10.2.2 to get this fix. I was able to apply that patch that solved this issue.

I exported to a DXF and it showed perfect when I brought it into Arc. Remember to set your projection.
