Feature Class will not label in ArcMap Oracle 10g ArcSDE 9.3.1

Hi,

We have an issue with labelling two spatial views (one line, one point) in ArcMap. Basically, neither the spatial view or the feature class that is used to create the spatial view will label in ArcMap. Other feature classes and spatial views in the same schema will label fine. The feature classes causing problems are edited live by users. The weird thing is that an ArcGIS Server service created from the MXD is still working fine (i.e. labels correctly) and the issue has only come up because we wanted to change some of the labelling in the MXD.

We are using ArcSDE 9.3.1 with Oracle 10g.

Does anyone have any ideas about what might be causing this?

I am having this problem, as well. The symptom is that any ST_Geometry based feature class I create will not label. If I export a portion of one of the feature classes to a SHP file, it will label. Any news on this topic?

This is not an answer as such but I was having the same problem and the only way I was able to resolve the issue was to export my data via ArcCatalog within the same schema with another name. The new layer did label correctly. I deleted the original and renamed my new layer. This suggests to me that either the layer had not registered property in SDE or there were issues with the spatial index and exporting it resolved these issues. I work with Oracle Spatial a lot and in this instance I populate features through PL/SQL directly in to the layer. I had already gone through the usual attempts to resolve the issue like checking for different geometry types, validating the features, removing duplicate vertices, re registering the layer and rebuilding the spatial index.
