Bruce,
At 10.1 f you have the mosaic data set stretched as you would like it in arcmap it is possible to export the settings from the image layer as a function file. Yo can the publish the mosaic to server and on the image service load the function file as the default function. See the following help file for instructions http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.1/index.html#//0154000003w6000000

Regards
Gordon

Referenced Mosaic Dataset Function

I have set up a large mosaic dataset of Landsat imagery. Within the overall mosaic dataset I have put a percent clip stretch function. When I write the function to a referenced mosaic dataset, the function is no longer applied to the MD. I can set the stretch on the imagery in the TOC but it is not maintained. I have also tried creating a layer file with the properties set. This works but when I create a service, I am no longer able to query the data in the desktop environment. We want all our users to access the imagery through services, not referenced mosaic datasets.

Thanks
Bruce Burwell
Saudi Aramco
