Unfortunately it is not a schema lock issue. I had to abondon the fgdb by using export as the copy/paste functions would give me an error message as well even though I was not selecting the corrupt feature class.

File Geodatabase - Feature will not delete

Let me start with I know it's my own fault.

I was having some exporting issues with a joined feature class in a file geodatabase. My joined layer would not export giving me some error (that I did not bother recording). My workaround was to just export the join as the default Export_Output and it worked great.

I was being lazy and opened the 'Add Data' dialogue and tried to rename Export_Output to something more meaningful. I realize this is not the way to do this but it works so quickly compared to toolbox or all the locked files junk between ArcCatalog and ArcMap. I have never had a problem doing this with shapefiles or personal geodatabase records. Yet this layer gave me an error when attempting the rename.

I closed ArcMap, opened ArcCatalog and now the Export_Output layer shows as a table with my attempt at a rename as a spatial feature 0b in size. I foolishly deleted the Export_Output table and now the spatial layer will not delete. I get a FDO error -2147024894.

Any ideas?

I'm going to abandon this geodatabase and make a new one.

(The more I use file geodatabases the less I like them. I'll stick to personal or SDE)
