The Stack Overflow article refers to a connecting a virtual XP to a local Windows 7 machine on which Postgres resides. I was able to configure my pg_hba.conf file correctly (I think). Our network is basically just a small secure wifi network. Now I guess I just need to see if I can create database server/ database connection from one of my coworkers arcMap setups and pull some data in. Thanks for the references.
