      <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;ArcSDE 10&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;SQL Server 2008 R2&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;Windows Server 2008&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;Shape Column: ST_GEOMETRY Storage&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;Perhaps I am one of the last of the Mohicans who is still using sde command line syntax from the DOS prompt to import coverage annotation: &lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;PRE __default_attr="plain" __jive_macro_name="code" class="jive_macro_code jive_text_macro"&gt;SDELayer -o add -l "NEWBLKID2006,ShapeID" -e sA -g "5000,0,0" -x "2300000,6800000,1000" -k FC_GEOMETRY -S "Block Numbers (2006)" -i esri_sde -s DCADDBIT -D GIS -u USR -p PAS&lt;/PRE&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;The problem is I am getting the following error: &lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BLOCKQUOTE class="jive-quote"&gt;Shapes of this entity type not allowed in this layer (-35).&lt;/BLOCKQUOTE&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt; when trying to create an sde layer using sde command line with the &lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;entity type&lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt; of &lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;SPAN style="font-style:italic;"&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;sA&lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;. ESRI Tech Support has not been able to duplicate the issue. Has anyone had this kind of error when just trying to create a layer after building an sde table?&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;You are receiving this error because SQL Server GEOMETRY and GEOGRAPHY type storage in ArcSDE does not include support for old-style SDE annotation.&amp;nbsp; ArcGIS annotation is supported.&amp;nbsp; &lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;-- TAD&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>
