idea Bad login user while connecting to oracle from arcmap or arcgis pro in Data Management Ideas

Hi everyone,

I recently encountered an issue while creating an ArcSDE on a new server, it was throwing me bad login error while executing Create Enterprise Geodatabase tool. The issue was very confusing that I could not connect to the oracle from both arcmap or arcgis pro however I was able to connect to the database from sql developer. The oracle client was properly configured since I was able to make connection to the other database from both arcmap and arcgispro.

This issue took a while to get resolved since there was no support on the ESRI blog exactly to the my case(or may be I was unable to search that) and arcgis was not showing a details with error code. Putting it here so that it may help if someone encounters the same.

Solution:

The issue was in the database user password, it was carrying an special character '@' which I request the database admin to change, doing so I was able to connect to the oracle from arcmap and eventually created the ArcSDE. Hope this helpful.
