What's the intended use case for the quote button in post replies?

The toolbar when replying to a post (has blockquote and quote buttons):

The toolbar when creating a new post (only has the blockquote button, not the quote button):

The quote button adds the content from the message you're replying to.

The block quote button allows you to emphasize a section of text is coming from another source

This is important!

Do you find you use the quote functionality much? I wonder if the UI/tree serves the same purpose when making replies.

Not really. I find it irritating that it give you the entire body of the message. I'm usually only interested in quoting a portion of the text, which means I have to go in and remove all the extraneous stuff .

For that, I just use the block quotes...

Personally, it doesn't bother me that much, because I often have to expand the toolbar anyway to get to the code button...
