Story Map Tour can't find public Facebook pages

I need to add more photos to an existing app that I published 2 months ago, but when I try Import, public pages (right side of the window) aren't recognized. I tried several different pages.

I didn't have any problems before. Has something changed?

Sorry about the issue, looks like the Facebook API has changed and the application will need to be updated.

Gregory,

I've also noticed that some of the thumbnail aren't displaying. I assumed

that those are generated from the Facebook photos. I checked FB and the

photos are still there.

Any ETA for getting this repaired? I was planning on sending the link to a

big group of potential partners, but at this point, I'll have to hide it

from the public instead because it's a mess.

I haven't looked yet. Our next update will go live around July 9th, that's the earliest I would be able to do.

Not sure what's happening with your thumbnail but that must be a different issue.

I may just have to reload some of the photos once the Facebook problem is

resolved, but if you can spot the exact issue, that would be useful.

I noticed several other story maps (not mine) that are missing random

thumbnails yesterday. I was looking for good examples to use for

introducing AGOL to prospective users. Naturally, I don't remember which

ones this morning, but here's one example:

I may have to go ahead and upload photos to AGOL, but I'll have to check

Thanks, unfortunately your Tour is not shared publicly and I get redirected to the sign-in screen. Please confirm me when it's public and I will take a look.

I checked the other Tour and none of the broken images are hosted on Facebook, Flickr or Picasa. They are hosted on various server and have been entered manually.

We know it can be hard to keep all the resources of your Story Maps apps alive and that's why we introduced a new tool called My Stories tool, see the announcement Story Maps website updated: new tools and resources!

The app

public, so you should be able to see it.

Since the FB links aren't usable, I tried another option, NP Focus, to

replace the photos that weren't displaying.

I have three other apps that use images and pdfs from NP Focus, and those

are fine. Two examples:

Mammoth Cave

As for the broken app, I can add NP Focus URLs and the images are

displayed. However, when I try the app from outside our network, the NP

Focus photos and thumbnails do not display. The images are public and two

people have confirmed that the links to the photos work from outside our

network. Example

I'm baffled as to why photos from two different public sources aren't

working in the app. This suggests to me that there is something on Esri's

side that has changed.

My only option at this point is to try uploading the images to AGOL. I

hope there's a batch upload option.

Hi,

I have been able to access the tour.

The third point images are not accessible.The thumbnail image is pointing to http://focus.nps.gov/DataEntry/GetAsset/4739e2a8-44f2-4e45-89ce-461a5cb0223f/ and the main image is pointing to http://focus.nps.gov/DataEntry/GetAsset/4739e2a8-44f2-4e45-89ce-461a5cb0223f/thumb/large

Both of those links are not valid image.

Points 1 and 2 are using images hosted on Facebook. Point 3 is using an ArcGIS Online item.

I think the app is working fine, you just to fix the URL that are broken.

Regarding the page AssetDetail that you gave in example. This should never works as this is pointing to a page including an image but it's not an image by itself, if you do a right click copy image url, you get the following link http://focus.nps.gov/GetAsset/701f6648-662a-40ad-8634-794261a7d8ab/proxy/hires that link should work.

That explains it! Afraid that I hadn't noticed the difference in the urls.

Now that you've pointed it out, I can get them to work. This is great

because I'll be storing the photos on a NPS site that can be used by others

and is more stable than Facebook.
