Is there a way to view the side accordion web map in a generic hosted template? I was able to do this with the shortlist using this URL: http://storymaps.esri.com/templates/shortlist/?webmap=(my web map ID)

Thanks,
Jerry

That generic hosted instance isn't available for the side accordion, just for the Shortlist. For the Shortlist it is mainly used for testing and reviewing content, rather than for deployments, because you can't change the Esri logo out to be your own logo, or do customizations like changing the header graphic. We are planning to make a hosted version of the side accordion app in a future release but there's no planned release date for that yet.
