topic Why won't my service definition file work in my story map? in Classic Esri Story Maps Questions

I have a feature class in a enterprise geodatabase and I want to use it in one of my story maps. I want to streamline the updating process as well as keep the symbology so I am using ArcGIS Server. I go through all the steps:

Create a service definition file

Stage it,

Publish on ArcGIS Server,

Copy the REST URL, and

Add as a item on ArcGIS Online.

I can then add it to my WebMap and I can see the layer. But as soon as I save it and try to open up that WebMap in my Story Map, the layer disappears. I have been having this issue for a while now. It makes no difference if its in an Enterprise Geodatabase or if I just publish a regular service. Please help.

Thanks,

Nik

Try adding the service to your web map using https in the URL. It may be that you are accessing your story over https and the service is http.

Owen
