Allow the ability to overwrite “, Script error:” when using custom error message from a validation attribute rule expression

Our organization relies heavily on attribute rules for our QA/QC process. We have dozens of validation attribute rules that check that important fields are not only populated, but that they also contain critical correct information.

In order to improve performance and to streamline the review of the errors, we are combining all the logic for each layer into a single validation attribute rule. This means that we’ve set up a custom error message in the rule’s expression to combine all the errors it identifies and return that information in a concatenated list.

The problem we are running into is that when returning a custom error message in a validation attribute rule. ArcGIS Pro automatically inserts ", Script error:" between the error message defined in the attribute rule pane and the error message triggered in the script. This adds a lot of text to the beginning of the error message which isn’t important to us and makes it difficult to view the actual error message with the information (especially when viewed from the Error Inspector since it’s all contained in a single field that always needs to be expanded).

What we would like to see is either the error message from the Attribute Rule pane and the error message from the script get separated out into separate fields, or the ability to overwrite the both the error message from the Attribute Rule pane and the additional “, Script error:” in order to remove them and just have the error message from the script remain.

We understand that this behaviour is consistent with how the script error messages show for the other types of attribute rules, but since the validation attribute rules are displayed differently in ArcGIS Pro, having a way to overwrite it and make it more clear would improve our mappers ability to quickly identify what errors need to be address so they can complete their QA/QC more efficiently.
