ArcReader 10 and ArcGIS Desktop 9.3 compatibility

Hello,
Could somebody please tell me if ArcReader 10 could be installed on computer having ArcGIS Desktop 9.3 installed? Can you use 9.3 to publish PMF for ArcReader 10 or have to use ArcGIS 10? Unfortunately This kind of information is missing from ArcReader 10???s official web site.

I have installed 10 on my machine and ArcReader 10 can read 9.3 PMF files. I'm not sure if you can install Reader 10 on a machine with ArcView 9.3, I guess I will try it and find out.

I have the opposite problem. I create a pmf file using ArcGIS 10. ArcReader 10 reads the pmf, ArcReader 9.3.1 does not.

I have tried to install ArcReader 10 on a PC with ArcMap 9.3.1 without success. The pop out message says cannot install it until all 9.3.x products were uninstalled. Moreover, like Neville mentioned PMF crated by 10 is not readable in 9!!!! This is so annoying! Very poor design. ArcReader and ArcMap should be version independent from each other. At least I don't want to spend 2 hours to uninstall and reinstall my ArcMap 9.3 in order to read a ArcReader 10 map.....

ArcReader 10 cannot coexist with any previous version of ArcGIS Desktop. If you run the Conflict detector that comes up on the splash screen when you insert your disc (or run 10UninstallUtility.exe) it will detect your 9.x installation and won`t let you to install v10 ArcReader.

However, there is no point to do that anyway, since PMF files are version specific, ie. you cannot open a v10 PMF in ArcReader 9.3.1 (and I think it`s true vice versa).

This may be because it is automatically saving the software folder in the 9.3 Arcgis folder - try changing the save location to your desktop.
