topic Microsoft Surface in ArcReader Questions

Does anybody have any experience using ArcReader (or any other ArcGIS software) on a Microsoft Surface tablet? If so which version of the tablet are you running? If not the Surface, how about another Windows 8-based tablet? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

-Matt

I would strongly recommend staying away from the Surface. It used Windows RT and that can be problematic for ArcGIS applications. It is also a bit underpowered. Keep in mind most tablets are designed for reading email, browsing the internet etc..

The surface, and most tablets, are not built to be working machines.

I would recommend something more along the line of
http://www.msimobile.com/level3_productpage.aspx?cid=112&id=425

or

http://www.msimobile.com/level3_productpage.aspx?cid=112&id=440

Both very reasonably priced and have full versions of their operating systems

I tested out ArcReader on a Windows 8.1 computer with a database built using Windows XP and ArcGIS 10.2 and it worked just fine.

Does anybody have any experience using ArcReader (or any other ArcGIS software) on a Microsoft Surface tablet?
