Can not read layers in axf file in arcpad

i create axf and use this axf in arcpad in my pc and work good but when try to use in arcpad on gps device appear error cannot read layes

Hello Ammar,

There are only a couple of reasons I can think of why an AXF would work on your desktop computer and not on your Windows Mobile Device...

1 - Size: Because Windows Mobile Devices are nowhere near as powerful as your desktop computer, if you have created an exceptionally large AXF, Windows Mobile Devices will not have the resources available to handle really large amounts of data. You may need to look at restricting the extent of your dataset or reduce the number of layers in your AXF to make your project more mobile.

2 - Corrupt Files: Could your AXF have been corrupted when it was transferred from your desktop computer to your Windows Mobile Device? What method did you use to transfer your files? Did you create a .CAB during Check-Out? Did you use an SD Card to copy the files?

If you are experienced with ArcPad, you could open your AXF in ArcPad Studio and take a sneaky peek at the XML for anything out of the ordinary 🙂

Perhaps you could try reinstalling the SQL CE cab file on the device. If that is not installed ArcPad can't read the AXF contents.The cab can be found in the ArcPad installation folder e.g. arcpad10.0\sqlce\wince5-pocketpcGood luck,Gareth

thanks for your replay

1-the size of axf is 1MB only so that the size not problem , when using one layer in Map and export to shape file it work normally but when export to axf file and use in arcpad not work

2-i transfer directly from mu computer to my window phone by using windows mobile device center software in my computer and i am using axf file in arcpad in my windows phone

3- i am not using CAB File only i use axf file

It's not a URL but the ArcPad installation folder path on your desktop PC. On my machine the sqlce*.cab files are found at C:\Program Files (x86)\ArcGIS\ArcPad10.0\Sqlce\WinCE5_PocketPC\.
