Annoying Off-line map service error

I need to access a ton of aerial imagery out in the field without internet access, so I followed the steps from the ArcPad Team Blog (http://arcpadteam.blogspot.com/2010/07/basemap-image-tiles-for-arcpad-10.html) to create an off-line map service. After doing so, I can successfully view my cached imagery offline using ArcPad 10 and a Trimble Nomad. However, whenever I insert the .nmf file into my map I get a "HTTP error 12007". I believe it's trying to call back to the online map service and kicks back this error whenever the unit is not connected to the internet. I hit "ok" for this error and the cached aerials load (saved on SD card) without any problem. Is there any way I can prevent the .nmf file from automatically looking to the on-line map service all together so I don�??t get this annoying HTTP pop-up error?

I posed this question to the ArcPad Team Blog and they suggested that I hack the URL in the NMF file so that it no longer points to the online service and it has no chance of going online (they suggested trying http://127.0.0.1/). I did this and I still get a pop-up that says "Encountered HTTP error 12029 for http://127.0.0.1//mymapservice/MapServer". When I delete the URL all together, so it only reads "http://", I do not get a pop-up error on my ArcPad desktop environment, but still get the error in ArcPad on my GPS unit.

I'm hoping to find an answer in this forum.

This issue has been recognized by the ArcPad Team and is logged in our systems. The issue relates to the .nmf file format requiring an online connection to function. This will be addressed in a future ArcPad release.

I have also been trying to use my ArcGIS server tiles offline in Arcpad 10.

I get the "encountered HTTP error 500"

In addition, the aerial images look like terrible.

They display and pan but appear to be very poor resolution. These same tiles display normal in ArcMap 10.

I created jpg images.

Please advise, why does Arcpad display a good image poorly?

How to resolve?
