Well in case anyone else has that problem, the solution seemed to be for me to:
1. leave the vbscript runtime unchecked
2. reset the device as requested
3. cancel/exit when it tries to install a second time (essentially exiting the deployment manager)
4. restart the deployment manager, and this time install only the vbscript runtime

hope that helps

I have been trying to install ArcPad 10 onto a Trimble Juno SB (with Window Mobile 6.1). When it gets to the part where it is installing SQL Server Compact for Windows Mobile, I get the message asking me if I want to install the software on the device or the sd card, then it installs, then I get a message saying it needs to restart to complete the install with choices of restart or cancel. If I select restart, it does so; then when I go back to my deployment manager on my desktop it starts installing SQL Server Compact again...is it a bug or am I doing something wrong?

There are 3 separate components that install during the 'Install SQLce for Windows Mobile' procedure. After each SQLce component is installed, the mobile device is rebooted to continue with the installation process.

* Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition - Core
* Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition - Replica
* Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition - Dev

I recommend re-deploying the SQLce components to your mobile device through ArcPad Deployment Manager.

Cheers,
Denise

I am experiencing the same problem on my Nomad 800GL. I am upgrading from 6.0 to 6.1. Mine crashes before it even tries installing Sql. I have even tried reinstalling Windows 6.1 again and deployed each program separately, reseting the device between each install. Still, when I get to SQL Compact, it bombs.
