topic Trimble Ranger & GPScorrect in ArcPad Questions

We just bought ArcPad for our Trimble Ranger handheld GPS unit. We've tried getting the unit to connect to the GPS signals, however we never have a fix. After doing a little more research, I'm seeing that we may need to also purchase GPScorrect. Is that a correct assessment?

Something to check first: You must have the GPS preferences in ArcPad set for the same COM, protocol and baud rate as the GPS unit. Otherwise, ArcPad will not allow you to activate the GPS. Hopefully that will fix the problem, or at least get you closer to a diagnosis.

I assume you are using some sort of GPS cap to place on the top of the Trimble Ranger? The Ranger, does not have integrated GPS built-in the unit, so an external device would be needed. What receiver are you using? Is it a serial port or bluetooth port connection?
