This information tells ArcPad how to interpret the signals that it is recieving. This information can usually be found in the technical specifications for your GPS.

The Port describes where the GPS is communicating from: for example, when partnering a Bluetooth GPS with your Windows Mobile Device, you will have configured the serial port on your GPS to communicate through a numbered COM Port on the device.

Having the ability to communicate with many different GPS devices that may have different protocols and baud rates and be connected to your device using different COM Ports is one of the most powerful features in ArcPad!

Tip: Using the 'Find' tool on the GPS Preferences Dialog (the binoculars icon), ArcPad will scan your device, searching for a GPS.
