Blank or not connecting Lookup Tables

Hey Guys been having issues with the Lookup tables not listing the data in Arcpad on the computer. Very basic list a field no VB or JS running.
Win7 set both arcpad and studio to winxp sp3
Take a previous project Lookup works fine. (created pre 10)
Take a new project created in v10 I get a list in arcpad its just blank.
Take the dbf from the first project and add to the new project, displays as blank.
Use wizard with old working DBF but new project connect to with combo box and blank.
Has something changed in v10 or am I missing a simple link.

PS is there also a prefered dbase format from access 2010 to use eg iii iv or 5. Or is preference to use arccatalog (tried that to)

Unfortunately I am unable to supply the APL/APMs.

Followup. OK not sure why but I added font details to the line in the APL in XML edit mode. Not sure why the default font colour wasnt potraying the data.

Chad,

Are you trying to create a list for your combo box control in your user form from a table/dbf file?
If so, open this form in ArcPad Studio, and open up the properties for your dropdown control. Under the List Values tab, making sure that your dbf is set for the "External List Values".
