So i was entering data into an arcpad file on my GeoXM when it froze up. So after waiting for a bit, I did a hard reset, holding down the green power button until it faded out, then turning it back on.

When I got it to turn back on, it asked me to configure the touchscreen, then asked for a password, like the GEOXM had never been used before, and then once it came on, not only was there no data, there was no arcpad.

Is this something that's happened to people? are all the programs and their data gone now?

Yeah, usually it should be 2 buttons. I have done it intentionally. You did a factory refresh is what I think they call it. If so, it's all gone. Basically, you just reinstalled Windows.

For the Nomad...

To reset the Trimble Nomad series to factory defalut settings, do the following:

1)Press and hold down the Power key and the right soft key (looks like a dash). Hold until warning screen
2)Follow the instructions on the screen

I don't know for the GeoXM. It will probably be different, but if you contact your Trimble Rep, they will pass along the documentation.

If you store your data on an external memory card, a "hard" reset will not affect your data.
