ArcMap 10, ArcSDE SQL Express 2008
"Add Data From Server"
"Type: ArcGIS Server ArcPad Service"

I am able to view the services in the window after connect to the URL:
The service is selected and the OK button clicked, the dialog box disappears but nothing happens. Absolutely nothing. ArcPad doesn't add the layer (Table of Contents remains unchanged, and the service isn't listed), there isn't an error pop-up, nor any log created.

Any thoughts?

The number one reason you would experience this behavior:

The DataForArcPad folder was accidentally deleted from...

C:\arcgisserver\arcpadpublications

If you don't have a folder called 'DataForArcPad' within the arcpadpublications directory, create a new one.

This folder is used to store the .zip and cab files which get deployed to the device consuming the ArcPad service. If you had to create the folder above, delete your service, delete the corresponding folder in arcpadpublications (but NOT DataForArcPad!), and re-create the service.

Any luck?
