I'm trying to select a picture field during the data check out for ArcPad and it won't show me any of the text attribute fields that I have in the layer that I want to edit. I click the Action tab next to the field name and it just says None. I've attached a screenshot of what I'm seeing. I've never used ArcPad before and I've been tasked with setting up projects for my city's engineering staff to use on their new Ashtech Mobile Mapper 100. How do I get photos taken in the field to hyperlink to the features being edited and remain that way after the data is checked back in?
~Ben

Ben,

In order to capture photo's the field type will need to be a "TEXT" format. The field name cannot have any spaces, special characters in the name, if the field does, the photo panel will not recognize the field. I am including a few helpful URL's on this, if you still have issues and are current on your maintenance; please log an ArcPad support incident with us. You can submit my name with it, and I will be glad to assist if you still have any issues.

Thanks Juan. Those links help out quite a bit. I have a text attribute field in each of the editable layers that I've set aside just for photos, but the 'Get Data For ArcPad' tool still won't give me the option to designate an attribute field as a picture field. It keeps showing none, even though I have text fields with a character limit of 500.
~Ben

Know this is an old thread, but thought I'd post here in case it helps someone out in the future.

I had the same issue. Turns out that you need to have the layer name and alias name the same for it to give you the photo field drop down option.

We have sde datasets, so the layername would be similar to DataBase.DBO.layername, in the map, we didn't like the extra info so renamed them (or tried setting alias in sde) to just the layername. No joy, the photo field disappears and had to keep the names the same in order for this feature to work.

R_
