Hi. I am in the process of obtaining quotes from Trimble and ESRI for upgrading to the current versions of GPS Correct, ArcPad, and GPS Analyst extension for ArcMap. I am using 2005 series GeoXH and XT units that are using Windows mobile 5 at the moment. My question is this.... will I also need to update that Windows mobile software to a different version in order to get ArcPad working? This whole thing was brought on by the recent install of ArcGIS v.10. It's going to cost us a lot of money we don't have.
Thanks alot ESRI!

Hi Nathan,

I think I read your question correctly. You will not need any different mobile device(s) or software(firmware) to get ArcPad or GPS Correct working. The only thing you won't get with ArcPad 7 running along side ArcGIS 10 is the new functionality in the synchronisation of photos in the "Get data for ArcPad" tool and the new functionality that was released.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Gareth

I'm not sure that you answered the question, and I have a related one. I have several older Magellan Mobile Mapper CE units running Windows CE 4.2. According to the specs, neither ArcPad 8 or 10 support Windows CE 4.2, although 8 supports CE 5 and 6, I believe.

I think you are saying that we should just continue to use ArcPad 7.1.1 with these units, and that running itconcurrently with ArcGIS 10 will not cause problems.

Is there any way to upgrade the Mobile Mapper units so that they can run ArcPad10? Would installing ArcPad 8 or ArcPad 10 on these units without upgrading not work at all, or just not work perfectly?
