ArcPad licensing question.

The project that I'm planning would ideally have the following components:
1) our desktop workstation with ArcPad 10 and Studio installed, where our file geodatabase will reside and data will be checked in/out from;
2) our mobile component of the project which would optionally be:
Trimble unit and ArcPad application for most fieldwork

laptop with same ArcPad application for certain scenarios where more screen real estate and a more comfortable editing experience is preferable
Is this possible with a single license of ArcPad? The fieldwork would only ever be done by a single individual on either the Trimble or the laptop, never both at once. The reason for wanting the same ArcPad application on the laptop, rather than just using ArcMap, is for the field user who won't be familiar with ArcMap and so that the same data collection workflows are followed.

Thanks for the input.
- Ryan

ArcPad can run as a stand-alone application, having ArcGIS Desktop installed on the same machine is not a requirement.

I have another question. I might have multiple members (2 to 3) of a crew that have different logins for our network, and they need to logon to one device (Windows 7 tablet), download a project and go out to the field. Problem is, is that even though ArcPad is being used on only one device, it still asks for the license every time a new User logs in to the device. Is there anyway around this? To clarify, the Users are using Projects and data already setup for them with templates, so all they want to do is collect data. They aren't even checking the data out or in. That is all being done on the backend through automated processes.

Each User Profile will be asked for the registration number the FIRST time that they launch ArcPad. This is because the registration number is stored in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER hive within the registry.

Any time that profile opens ArcPad (this log-in or a later log-in) ArcPad should launch as registered.

If you are experiencing behavior other than this (such as you enter the password, log out, log in, and it asks you for it again) then it probably has something to do with permissions associated with their user profile.
