topic Data string for serial communication interface in ArcPad Questions

Hi all,

I'm currently developing an AVR-ATMEGA16-microcontroller based device that is intended to deliver data into ArcPad's serial input interface. This microcontroller-based device collects underwater depth data using a sealed pressure sensor. The resulting data is processed by the AVR and then sent out via the RS232-Interface to ArcPad running on a PC with Windows OS. The purpose is to combine GPS-generated X-Y-coordinates with a Z-value to gain the three-dimensional structure of the underwater topography.

Now my question: How would an ASCII-string look like that contains vertical elevation data into ARCpad's serial interface? Particularly examples are well appreciated as well as theoretical background.

Thanks in advance!

Peter Rachow
