topic Trouble with Get Data From ArcPad in ArcPad Questions

I'm using ArcPad 10. I've exported a feature class containing 849 points to ArcPad. I edited the attributes of one point in that layer in ArcPad as a test, but when I use the 'Get Data From ArcPad' tool in ArcGIS for Desktop 10.2 to check the data back in it tells me it can't bring the .axf in because it can't find a transaction log. So I manually copy the folder containing the .axf from my mobile unit to my computer and the tool then works. However, once the check in is complete, I lose 64 points. They still have lines in the attribute table, but all the fields are blank, they can't be selected and they do not show up in the map. Anybody have any idea what I'm doing wrong? Thanks!

Hi Ben,

When your checking in your data from ArcPad back into your desktop geodatabase - it is essential to make sure you have copied the AXF from the mobile device and into a local folder. ArcPad won't let you check in otherwise 🙂

Records will not be deleted during a check-in unless they have been marked as deleted in ArcPad. Were the missing records reported as deletes when you performed your check-in?

You can check your AXF status flags before you check-in your data in ArcPad Studio. These are the status flags (new, modified deleted records) that are set in the AXF to update the records in your geodatabase. You can update them using a SQL query in Studio if required.

If you do have deleted records in your AXF that you do not want deleted from your geodatabase - changing the AXF status flag will prevent this. Simply perform another checkout to make sure the records are present in your project AXF.

Hope this helps,

Hannah 🙂
