topic How does IRouteLocator2::Identify work? in ArcObjects SDK Questions

Hello,

We are just working to better understand this method.

We have an application where a user clicks on a map and we find the closest polyline and obtain the measure value from that *location*.

All the samples / doc I found that obtained measure values from a user specified area used the IRouteLocator2::Identify; however, what's happening behind the scenes? It takes an envelope and returns an enumeration of route location results.

It seems like only there is only one result per mpolyline returned in the enumeration. How is this *location* determined? The envelope will cross the mpolyline twice .... so don't know where it's getting the measure from.

Thanks in advance,

Jess
