    <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;MXD files are OLE structured storage.&amp;nbsp; You can walk the storages and streams w/o ArcObjects but what you will get is binary data.&amp;nbsp; I am not aware of ESRI documentating the format of the binary data.&amp;nbsp; Of course, you can reverse engineer it.&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>
