Spatial Database Connection dialog

While accessing mxd using arcobjects each time when a layer is accessed from the map document,the "Spatioal Database Connection" dialog comes up, stalling the application until cancel is pressed. I'd like to simply ignore such layers, and not ask for any authentication, but simply handle the layer in question as if its data source was missing.

Any pointers?

I'm having lots of problems with this two. I'm getting about 20 of these boxes whenever I open a mxd (with ArcObjects or ArcMap). Is there anyway to stop the boxes from popping up?
