I save a copy of it and add the new shapefile for the document to it. I then copy the properties from another shapefile I already have in the document and paste them to the new shapefile. It stopped working today.</P><P></P><P>A potential cause could be that I access ArcMap using a Citrix server and recently they re-set my Citrix profile because I was unable to search in ArcMap. Now I can no longer copy properties&nbsp;from any shapefiles in my mxd. It looks like this functionality does not come out of the box with ArcMap but is from the XToolsPro add-in:&nbsp;<A class="link-titled" href="https://xtools.pro/en/features/layer-tools/copy-layer-properties/" title="https://xtools.pro/en/features/layer-tools/copy-layer-properties/">Copy Layer Properties</A>.
