Vertical cooridnate system not getting removed from featureclasses inside featuredataset even after clearing.

Hi All

Facing below issue - not sure if its a product bug or if there is something which we are doing wrong.

Once vertical coordinate system is applied to featuredataset and then if removed – it does not get removed from featureclasses inside featuredataset.

We tried below but it did not produce expected result :

Removed the Vertical coordinate system by clicking on clear – in ArcCatalog , it shows the Vertical Coordinate system cleared in featuredataset and featureclasses but after refreshing the connection the VCoord comes up again.
Unregistered the dataset as versioned and then removed the Z coordinate from the dataset, by which the coordinate gets removed from the FC's also but after reconnecting to the Database the Z coordinates are seen back again in the FC's.
Cleared ArcMap Cache- still issue persists.

If anyone knows any workaround - please let me know. Thanks in advance.
