One option may be to make a label point. Center the point in the center of each group of polygons. Or you could create a new polygon feature class that has all the types merged. so all the pines in one cluster are a single polygon. Then label in polygon.

Kia ora (NZ for greetings)

Am fairly new to Arc so a basic question I am sure...

How do you add a label that accumulates several object areas (features) that make up a feature class?

eg I want to add the various forest species areas say for pine . Pine is a feature class on the map that is made up of several individual pine polygons. Presetnly every single pine polygon gets its own label so a lot of clutter on the map.I just want one label that acccumulates the summed area of all the pine polygons.

thanks, Peter
