topic Split line feature where segment between vertices is greater than X length in ArcMap Questions

Hi all,

I have a large polyline dataset that when projected are not split at the 0 meridian and do not wrap around the Earth, therefore, showing on screen as lots of straight lines. I am looking for a tool or script that will identify segments of each line feature that are greater than X length between two vertices and split them at these points.

Essentially there are sections of these polylines that actually represent the features I am trying to display and it takes a long time to manually go through and split each individual polyline at either end of the "ladder" across the screen before deleting the long segment that is not required.

Is this possible? Any other suggestions to rectify this issue would also be greatly appreciated. Having looked around it seems a common issue with how data are projected.

Thanks.
