Add Field greyed out on Attribute Table...not editing

Hi,

I am new to ArcMap and I am trying to Add Field to Attribute Table of a shapefile sourced from the national Ordinance Survey, and it is greyed out. I have closed all files/programmes, rebooted, and tried to Add Field to the basic shapefile with no luck. Others using the same shapefile have no issues. Screen shots attached.

I loaded the Advanced Licence, ArcGis Version 10.7 one month ago.

I am not in edit mode, I tried starting and stopping editing and then Add Field, no luck.

I am running Windows 10, 64-bit version

Any suggestions are really welcome.

Is the file stored on your computer? or on some shared location?

Yes the file is stored on my computer.

Thanks for the correct filing of my question.

I am considering a re-install to see if that might solve my problem.

Does the issue persist if you open a blank MXD, and add the shapefile to it. (This step will resolve the issue if there is current MXD gets corrupted.)

Else

Does the shapefile's parent folder has Write access? Execute the following steps.

1. Export the concerned data to a new shapefile (in a simple location. e.g. C:\project\shp folder)

2. Open a blank Map in ArcMap. And add the newly created shapefile.

Check if this resolves your problem.

Thank you so much. Yes that has worked.

When I created a shapefile in a blank map, Add Field was available.

I deleted the file with the maps and re-imported it and Add Field now available. So looks like a corruption issue.
