topic How does Workflow Manager Advanced Org Extension work in ArcGIS Workflow Manager Questions

We have an on-premise implementation of ArcGIS Enterprise Portal used for many things including editing of a Roads and Highways LRS network. We now have a couple workflows started in workflow manager (version11.3) in our on-premise portal. Now we would like to evaluate scheduling workflows and have discovered that we need additional licensing. It seems that to schedule workflows, Workflow Manager Advanced Org Extension/License is required?

Someone suggested that maybe we could use the Workflow manager as part of ArcGIS Online. Would we still need the advanced org license if we were using workflow manager as part of ArcGIS Online? Can you create workflows in ArcGIS online that interact with services hosted in Portal on-premise? This seems a little convoluted to me but if it would allow us to avoid additional licensing.

Thanks.
