Search Widget to Show symbology

Hi guys,

Is there anyway to customize the search widget to show symbology beside the search results. Let's say I have POI point layer showing on the web app and it is symbolized based on status (open or closed). If someone types the name of a particular POI in the search bar I want the result to not only show the name but also the symbol representing whether its open or closed? Is there anyway to do this?

Why don't you use Robert Scheitlin, GISP‌ ESearch Widget?

This is excellent. How would I implement that in my web app? Is there any documentation or step by step guide for this?
