Start extent determined by user login?

Is there any customized code that will start an application map based on the user login information? We are developing an Web AppBuilder application that will have both state and region end-users and we would like the start up map to open with either the state or region of the user logging into the map. We are predominantly using Typescript API but can also use JavaScript APIs in our application. Thank you for any assistance.

I don't have anything for setting the extent based on that user though.
