nested Query -field value numeric, using Unique - how to sort

The Setup:

Using Query Widget

Select a first value pulldown, then another. Set the second as Nested Query, select Unique.

This second value points to a numeric field.

User interaction (GUI):

I was unable to find any configuration available to ensure that sorting was as expected when the values are numeric.

Is there any 'hacking' the code that anyone has done to have this sorting properly when the values are from a numeric field?
