A WebApp's config.json and recognizing a custom widget

I have been following the instructions in the Web AppBuilder API site on how to create and deploy a custom widget for a webapp, e.g.:

The instructions say I have to modify the webapp's config.json file to include the custom widget, but nowhere on the API site is info provided as to how, ie., what has to be added?

For example, on my desktop I created a custom widget called ListView, which I verified works on my desktop. As per the API instructions, to deploy I simply copy the ListView directory from \client\stemapp\widgets to my webapp's widget directory, then modify the webapp's config.json.

OK, what has to be added? I've done Google searches on this and cannot find anything. Thanks!
