Map layers that appear when opening web map app

How do I set what layers/features I want to appear when a web mapping app is opened by the user? I have then organized in layer widgets and I only want certain ones to appear when the user opens the app. I have searched high and low, but cannot find guidance that works for this. I am assuming it is something very easy and I am just not seeing where this can be set.

If you save the relevant web map with the relevant layers switched on, that should come through to the app when it opens.

I have this same question. I would like the ap to open to specific layers every time the ap is opened. Not to whatever the last saved view was by me or another user.
