Web AppBuilder map refresh issue

The Sep 2016 update to Web AppBuilder (AGOL version) broke previously working Web AppBuilder maps that contained more than three imagery map layers; the map will not refresh and the circle spins in the middle of the screen. Has anyone found a solution to this issue? Refreshing the browser does not fix the problem.

Unfortunately when dealing with AGOL version there is little to nothing that the community can do to help then as we can not suggest code changes that would resolve the issue.
