summarize by polygon in ArcGIS Online webapp

I would like to add a widget to my Web App Builder based AGOL app, which can return a summary of points within a polygon from another layer. Can this be done?

I dont want anything that has prebuilt summaries. The Info Summary tool looks close, but it looks like it only return the sum of the features within the current map extent. Is there a away to use this so I can get a summary within the bounds of a polygon feature? So far I haven't had any luck figuring this out.

Please checkout the Analysis widget, it has a tool called Aggregate points which may meet your needs.

thanks, I did look at that a bit, was hoping for something that would not consume credits. I will look at those tools again.

Not sure if this question is answered in other discussions,. but did summary widget clusters polygons and lines as well?

I configured the widget for a project layer with polygon features. The summary dashboard works well with all the necessary info as required. But no clustering is visible for different project area polygons.

Does the widget works only on point features?

Hi Amit,

The Summary widget will summarize points, lines and polygons, but only point features can be displayed as clusters. Clustering lines and polygons wouldn’t make sense in most cases, because they could represent large irregular geometries that cannot necessarily be represented by points.

I think ESRI should consider the clustering option for lines and polygons as well. ESRI partner Apps such as GeoCortex (Latitude Geographics) enables clustering the two geometries through the GeoCortex apps. It is quite useful and in demand. Especially when displaying the multitude of project areas, transport activities across the town as an overview. The current workaround workflow to display the clustering for polygon features is generate centroids and use it for clustering. Which is bit unnecessary.

Many business units prefers and demands to visualize the multiple project areas (polygons) spread across the city as overview clusters through a web app.

So is there no way to summarize points within a selected polygon in Web App Building without consuming credits?

Seems like a simple task (if you had the patience you could draw a polygon in the map and get a summary). But it would be great if someone could use the select tool to choose, say a country, and then use another tool to summarize points in that layer? Seems so simple that it's not worth spending the credits...we spend enough on storage and accounts I'd rather not give more on credits for easy analysis (especially since you can't trace those credits back to a specific user in our group, so someone needs to suck up the costs - very risky). I guess I will have to spend the time to program it myself in model builder?

Actually, you can. An admin can login to the ArcGIS Online organization > Organization page > View Status > Credits tab.

You can click on an analytics column in the histogram, which should display the "Usage Aggregation by Type" donut chart underneath the histogram. When you select one of the analytics usages - you will see which member consumed those credits.

Yes but the credits are not attributed to a specific user if we have a public facing app? I.e. who to allocate the limit to?

I believe you can use the 'situation awareness' widget. This way you can summarise using a custom polygon.

Bump again. Selections are the heart of ArcMap. So weird that AGOL does not use them at all.
